QUESTION:
Hi Bill, I want to ask you a question that maybe you can or can't help me with. In my Tai Chi class we are learning a Buddhist QiGong which I can feel in my hands very strongly. Today, at home, I held a little wooden bird [my teacher] hand-carved and was trying to send him energy as I did my Qi Gong.
I'm just winging it here, knowing very little in the way of distance healing, but I do not think you will think I'm nuts or even foolish for trying.
Any ideas?
ANSWER:
Modern physics has shown that on a quantum mechanics level of reality space and time as we know it don't apply. Things far away can be affected instantly by what happens elsewhere. So, it's not far fetched to think qigong works in that way, since qigong works at that basic energy level. I get into all this deeply in my book, in the chapter before the Sitting Qigong chapter.
There is also a book on prayer healing by a medical doctor, the title escapes me right now, where he's found results in people praying for one another. I think prayer is a way for our best intentions to be transmitted to others, and Qigong masters I've studied with have often emphasized the importance of love being our mindset when we apply external qigong to others, so I think that prayer and distance qigong transmissions have that quality in common.
However, I also recommend that we don't make a habit of external qigong for others, but rather encourage others to learn their own qigong. Self empowerment is the best thing qigong has to offer others, and we don't want them relying on us for their source of qi.
QUESTION:
Hi there Bill.I have recently started with T'ai Chi classes at the local gym and I am really enjoying it. I would like to make T'ai Chi a lifestyle as opposed to another exercise routine. In the respect of nutrition - where can I obtain a complete & thorough eating plan. It does not help that I want to adopt a new lifestyle, but am eating incorrectly in accordance with the proposed new lifestyle. That does not help much. It defeats the purpose of a new lifestyle. Your advise and tips on this will be greatly appreciated.

Hi J,
I have a brief section in my tai chi book on diet, and how the Chinese diet tipifies what is healthiest, much rice and vegetables with smaller portions of meat, and often stir fried which is much preferable to deep fried. If you have the book flip through to that section for details. If not, they probably have it at your local library.
Also stay hydrated. Most of us allow ourselves to get dehydrated, which isn't good.
