BRAZIL IN THE GLOBAL VIBRATION

Brasília joins the chain of good energy to celebrate the World Day of Tai Chi & Chi Kung

Tomorrow, for half an hour, Brasília will join the wave of health and peace that will embrace the Earth for all day long. The World Day of Tai Chi & Chi Kung completes its 10th anniversary and will be celebrated all over the world, from New Zeland to Hawai, at 10 a.m. local time, with the performance of Simplified Tai Chi – form 24, yang style by people present at the event. In the Square of the Universal Harmony – Brasília, the activities will begin at 6 a.m. with a Tai Chi class, followed by the tradicional communitarian breakfast. At 8:30 am, the solemn overture of the world-wide event will take place, under the coordination of Association Being Tao – ABT, represented by Master Joseph Mon-Shong Woo. He explains that these Chinese exercises are very important not only to the physical health, but to the mind and spirit. Such exercises have been practised for many centuries in China and have the purpose of bringing harmony to everybody. He also remembers that Tai Chi is recommended for all the ages, it can be practiced in any place and all that is required is disposition and comfortable clothes. Energy will be the focus of tomorrow’s activities. It is recommended that the practitioners of Tai Chi & Chi Kung pay attention to and be grateful to the force that comes from the sun. "Without energy, there will not be any life. But as energy is free, people often forget its power and value ", says 76-year-old Master Woo, who practises Tai Chi "since he was in the uterus of his mother". One of the main Chi Kung’s basic principle is the improvement of the circulation of the energy in the body in order to improve health itself, by using millenarian techniques of increasing the inner force and expanding the mind. Nevertheless, Tai Chi Chuan involves so many aspects that it is very hard to reach a clear definition. But basically speaking it is martial art as meditation form. Taking for granted its essential principles, the 24 moves had became the most popular form, within the large range of them. There are also series with weapons, such as sword, saber and fan. In addition, Master Woo alerts that is not necessary to know everything about Tai Chi to benefit from the different techniques: "They are movements of fight to exercise the mind and the spirit too, but if you know only the little four position - step up, deflect, parry and punch - you are ready to start."
